Three day Dengue Control Programme Begins Today

Officials and students of the Entomology School who inspected construction sites, temples and state institutions, found dengue mosquito larvae in pots used to bathe the 'bohiya’ in temples and trays used to place oil lamps, Health Ministry sources said.
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry will launch a three day intensive dengue control programme from today covering all affected districts. The programme will end on July 2, the sources said.

The sources said 500 teams will be deployed in affected areas to implement this programme.

Members of the armed forces and health officers will be included in teams. The teams will visit houses to detect possible dengue mosquito breeding sites. The Health Ministry will continue fogging in affected districts such as Colombo, Gampaha and Kandy. The OPD of IDH will be kept open until 8.00 p.m., the sources added.

The majority of dengue patients have been reported from Nugegoda, Dehiwala - Mount Lavinia, Kolonnawa, Kaduwela, Moratuwa, Maharagama, Piliyandala, Ja-Ela, Mahara, Gampaha, Wattala, Kelaniya, Attanagalla, Beruwala, Panadura and entire Kandy district, the sources said.
